Haplogroup Y (Y-DNA)

From SNPedia

Human Y chromosome (Y̠DNA) haplogroup is defined by differences in the non-recombining portions of DNA from the Y chromosome, that is, by SNPs in Y chromosome. Y-Chromosome Phylogenetic Tree is based on these mutations. A haplogroup has an ancestor haplogroup and descendant haplogroup(s).

Main Y-DNA haplogroups are named from A to T. Besides these there are branching points or nodes defined by certain SNPsː CT, DE, CF, GHIJK, IJK, IJ, LT. K2 and NO and they are called haplogroups as well.
