Terminology[edit]
Not to pick nits, but my impression was that the alleles are named:
ApoE-ε2, ApoE-ε3, ApoE-ε4.
Whereas the proteins produced by these genes are called:
ApoE2, ApoE3, ApoE4.
Is this not correct? We need not, of course, be hypercorrect here. Just wondering.

That usage is what I've seen in virtually every published article I've read.

(Sometimes researchers leave out the hyphen for the genotype though, and sometimes the gene is with all caps -- as here on SNPedia.)
Wikipedia is much less reliable than most people think, but the less political the topic, the more accurate it tends to be. ApoE is not a very politically charged topic, so I would tend to trust the usage here (see top 8 or so lines):
