rs6797312, a SNP in the neuroserpin SERPINI1 gene, was found to be associated with stroke risk in some populations but not others.
In a study of 224 female patients (from 15-49 years old) equally divided between Caucasians and African-Americans, the rs6797312(A) allele was associated with higher risk (odds ratio 2.05, p=0.023) for early-onset ischemic stroke in Caucasians but showed no association in African-Americans.[PMID 17961231]
