rs6837793 is a SNP associated with the NPY5 receptor gene, located in the single promoter region likely to be co-regulating the Y1 and Y5 receptor genes.

In a study of 101 mostly Caucasian patients prescribed the atypical antipsychotic risperidone, carriers of a rs6837793(G) allele were more likely to gain significant weight compared to rs6837793(A;A) carriers, as assessed by physiogenomic analysis of corresponding weight profiles. Two other SNPs, rs8179183 and rs705381, were also significantly associated with weight profiles in these patients.[PMID 17199131]
