Talk:GYPA
From SNPedia
I have none of the four SNPs listed for GYPA in my genes, but I have 9 SNPs in the GYPA system. Could someone please update the GYPA and GYPB pages with information about frequency and rarity of the mutations? These are my mutations. rs1132787 rs13125760 rs4425323 rs4374581 rs6857303 i6055230 rs6857144 rs4867 rs13103731
- When you say you have 'none' of the four SNPs, do you mean that you don't have the minor alleles for any of them, or that you don't have data for yourself at those SNPs? Also, if you want to tell us a bit more about what you're after, we might be able to help more. Feel free to email us through info@snpedia.com, or just post a response here. - I've realized where your listed SNPs are derived from; they are just the GYPA gene SNPs that 23andMe happens to test on it's DNA chip. However, as you may now realize, that DNA chip does not test the two most important GYPA SNPs, rs7682260 and rs7687256, and since they don't test them, you won't have any data for them. And while there might be some literature about the GYPA SNPs that 23andMe is actually testing, if there is, it's likely to apply to very few people. 23andMe does test the one GYPB SNP of most note, rs7683365, which defines your S/s antigen status. Thanks Greg but I'm not sure I have those SNPs I think they did test for them. I have rs7683365 GG as the result so whichever chip version they used for me must include it. I do have a very rare yet unidentified blood factor so maybe it's in the MNS after all.
