rs187116, also known as +4883G>A, is a SNP in the CD44 gene.
A presentation at the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting based on ~100 patients reported this SNP as being significantly associated with more aggressive gastric cancer. In dbSNP orientation, the risk allele is rs187116(C); patients carrying at least one rs187116(C) had a significantly shorter median time-to-recurrence (TTR) of 2.1 years compared to 7.0 years TTR for rs187116(T;T) patients (p = 0.036, log-rank test).[1]
