rs2272383, a SNP in the TUB gene, was found in a study of 492 unrelated type-2 diabetes patients to have a significant effect on body mass index and thus obesity (1.3 kg/m(2), p= 0.01). When two populations were combined, totaling ~1200 patients, the risk allele rs2272383(G) averaged an increase of 0.21 (–0.28 to 0.70).[PMID 16443771]
[PMID 17955208] TUB is a candidate gene for late-onset obesity in women.
[PMID 18183286] Polymorphisms of the TUB gene are associated with body composition and eating behavior in middle-aged women.
